The swaths of technology that's completely concealed, with almost no way to peek inside.
Take a moment to think about the world in which you could feasably inspect understand how a technology works.
Take an F1 car, and the telemetry going back and forth, and think about what data has to come back and forth. You could have things like speed, location, tyre temerature being sent back to a radio reciever, with a few backup transmissions in case one pipeline fails.

There’s definately a sizable impact that these systems are floating atop the maturity that have been setup between these companies, between rather small technical teams
Between technical manuals, specification documents stored on exchange mail servers, the (tribal) knowledge on how these systems work, sometimes underpinning society in ways that could impact society greatly.
Imagine if a bank lost the ability to retain how much balance you had. How might some people react?
Some of this has to, to some extent, be stalling human progress by means of withdrawing and obscuring how these systems work in practice.
Sometimes I see why there’s good reason for this, other times it’s competitively adventagous.
What’s shocking is how we – a civilisation that’s been historically blood-thirsty for discovering, have relented to the protectorate of the financially incentivised.
